At Harsha Behavioral Center we believe in Patient Centered Care. We focus on providing comprehensive, compassionate and innovative mental health services to individuals in crisis.

Our interdisciplinary team of experts will tailor the treatment program to meet the individualized needs of your loved one. The team meets daily on weekdays to ensure patients are receiving the best care.

Psychiatric & Clinical Services: The clinical staff is responsible for primary psychiatric services to all Harsha Behavioral Center patients including treatment of general medical problems. A complete physical exam, medical history, and mental status is completed within 24 hours of admission. The attending physician determines the admission, ongoing, final and discharge diagnosis based on the DSM multi-axial system. The patient's physician is a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and the Medical Director is the clinical leader of the group.

Nursing Services: Registered nurses complete written assessments of the physical and emotional status of patients. Assessments are completed at the time of admission; ongoing in response to treatment; and/or when there is a significant change in the patient’s status. The nursing division is responsible for the provision of nursing care 24-hours a day, 7-days a week. This responsibility includes assessing, planning of care, and ensuring the safety and general welfare of all patients. Direct care is provided by both licensed RNs, LPN's and mental health technicians as support staff.

Social Services: Social Services represent an integral part of the assessment and treatment process. This involves individual, family and group therapy, inter-agency consultation, crisis intervention, discharge and referral planning, and follow-up. Social Service staff assists the patient and family with the transition of admission, provide support and information to the family during the hospitalization phase, and arrange discharge planning.

Dietary Services: Recommendations are made to the attending physician based on the nutritional assessment. Upon a physician’s order, special diets are prepared and served. Each patient receives well balanced nutrition that is care planned to reflect and meet their medical and physical needs.

Family Support/Educational Services: An ongoing liaison relationship with the patient’s families, legal representatives or significant others is maintained throughout the patient’s hospitalization. Educational opportunities are provided through treatment planning meetings and family seminars regarding a variety of aspects related to mental illness and discharge planning. We also have school liaisons that help to ensure that your child stays on track with school work. These liaisons work with your child’s school to receive school work due to their absence and maintain a close relationship to ensure that homework assignments are returned to your child’s school. This helps to reduce the stress to your child associated with make- up work when they return to school.
