Local Scholarships given in the Wabash Valley

Harsha Behavioral Center, a local mental health agency, gave two, $1,000 scholarships to local seniors. These seniors are going into the medical field or fine arts. Both recipients that were chosen by the Harsha Scholarship committee are graduating from West Vigo High School. We at Harsha feel that it is important to give back to the community, especially the youth of our community. Our society has dealt with every day chaos over the last year but the youth have lost a lot and gone through a lot. The rate of suicide amongst this population is alarming and any little thing that we can do to alleviate some of the stress is helpful. Not only do we get to help with these student’s futures, but by hosting these scholarships, we help to bring an awareness to mental health services in our community. At the presentation of the scholarships, One of our directors took a moment to talk about the mental health issues facing our youth and encouraged them to check in on each other and to be kind. One of our Harsha Scholarship recipients reached out to personal thank Harsha Behavioral Center, “Thank you so much for the scholarship. I am so grateful. Your kindness makes it possible to further my education. Thank you, Cody”
