Admissions

At Harsha Behavioral Center, we understand that every inquiry means that there is a crisis situation. We strive to make the admission process stress free and fast for everyone.

 Harsha Behavioral Center receives referrals from physicians, psychiatrists, nursing homes, child and adolescent services, and other mental health and behavioral centers throughout Indiana and Illinois. Parent referrals and walk-ins are always welcome.

Admissions Criteria

All referrals are processed through the Admission Department in conjunction with a physician to determine eligibility for inpatient care. In some cases this may mean a no-cost, on-site assessment. With one phone call to the Admission Department, you will know if the patient has been accepted for immediate admission.

 

Criteria for Admissions

  • Suicidal or Homicidal ideation or suicidal attempt

  • Harm to self or others

  • Severely depressed mood, feelings of helplessness, severely impaired contact with reality, or severely disorganized thinking

  • Recent incident of significant self-mutilation, significant risk-taking, or loss of impulse control resulting in danger to self or others.

  • Admission is court ordered.

Insurance

Harsha Behavioral Center accepts most payment sources, including Indiana Medicaid, Illinois Public Aid and self pay.

+ What should I bring??

We recommend 3 days worth of washable, easy-care clothing, clearly marked with the patient’s name. Harsha Behavioral Center will not be responsible for any lost or stolen items.

  • Socks
  • Shorts (no drawstrings)
  • Jeans (no sharp metal protrusions and no holes)
  • Pajamas
  • Blouses or tee shirts
  • Sweater or light jacket (no drawstrings, avoid heavy metal zippers)
  • Sweat pants/shirts (no drawstrings, avoid heavy metal zippers)
  • Brush and comb
  • Bras (without an underwire—sports bra recommended)
  • Patient's medication(s)

We will provide toiletries such as (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothbrush and toothpaste)

  • Any clothing/shoes with strings

  • Only appropriate and safe under garments are permitted.

+ When can I visit and call my loved one?

Visitation and phone hours for child and adolescents

Visitation Hours: Parents, guardians and approved family members are only permitted to visit during the following hours. We only allow 2 visitors at a time and they must be 12 years or older.

  • Monday, Wednesday and Friday: 7:00-8:00 pm (Eastern Time)
  • Saturday and Sunday: 1:00-2:00 pm (Eastern Time)

Phone Hours: Telephones are available for your use during specific times or in the case of an emergency. As a courtesy to others, please attempt to limit calls to 5 minutes.

  • Monday through Friday: 7:00-8:00 pm (Eastern Time)
  • Saturday and Sunday: 1:00-2:00 pm (Eastern Time)
Visitation and phone hours for adults:

Visitation Hours: Parents, guardians and approved family members are only permitted to visit during the following hours. We only allow 2 visitors at a time and they must be 12 years or older.

  • Tuesday & Thursday: 7:00-8:00 pm (Eastern Time)
  • Saturday and Sunday: 2:00-3:00 pm (Eastern Time)

Visitation Hours: Approved family members are only permitted to visit during the following hours. We only allow 2 visitors at a time and they must be 12 years or older.

+ How long will my loved one be hospitalized?

This varies depending on the severity and needs of your loved one. We are a short term, acute facility.

+ What is the cost of an assessment?

We offer no-cost screenings that can be set up by appointments, walk-ins are welcomed.

+ What type of insurance do you require?

Harsha Behavioral Center accepts many private insurance, as well as Indiana Medicaid, Illinois Public Aid, and self pay. Does someone have to refer my loved one in order to be hospitalized?

Harsha Behavioral Center receives referrals from physicians, psychiatrists, nursing homes, hospitals, children and adolescent services, and other mental health and behavioral centers throughout Indiana and Illinois. Walk-ins are always welcome.

Family coordination sessions are scheduled within 72 hours of admission. Participation in these sessions is essential to the success of our patients. It is important to see how our patients and their families interact and family input is a critical part of our on-going assessment process.

Discharge planning begins at admission. Our care coordinators will work closely with the family to help establish your loved one’s aftercare treatment which consists of both a physician and a therapist to help keep your loved one on the healthy track.

  • 3- 5 day stay $3300 – $8000
  • 6-12 day stay $6600 – $17,000
